2022 WA Gold Medal Award

The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) has announced the 2022 Western Australian Gold Medal Award winner is prominent businessman Steven Cole FAICD.

The Gold Medal is awarded in recognition of the significant contribution of a WA director to corporate life in Western Australia and their contribution to the wider community.

Mr Cole has more than 40 years professional, corporate and business experience through senior legal and governance consultancy, as well as a range of executive management and non-executive appointments.

His extensive boardroom and board sub-committee experience includes ASX listed companies, professional services and statutory, proprietary and NFP organisations covering the industrial, financial, educational, agribusiness, health, local government and resources sectors.

Mr Cole continues to be a sought-after consultant for many organisations seeking either to enhance or remediate their governance capabilities, and he is a mentor for a number of emerging company director aspirants.

WA State Manager Carl Cockerham GAICD said Mr Cole had been a distinguished member of both the WA business community and of the AICD for many years.

“The Gold Medal Award is due recognition for Steven’s contribution to corporate and community life in Western Australia and acknowledges his long term commitment to our state. His time and expertise in leadership roles is highly valued across many sectors.”

Mr Cole said he was very proud and humbled to receive this award and he looked forward to being able to continue working towards enhancing the profession of corporate directorship for the “greater good”.
