Flood information: service/facility impacts and where to find assistance

Now is the time to be Flood Ready.In the interests of safety, the City of Greater Geelong is asking the community to:

  • Avoid river water. This includes swimming, fishing, and not using boat ramps if possible;
  • Review travel plans both within Geelong and to other parts of the state to ensure your journey is not impacted by flood waters; and
  • Never drive, walk or ride through flood water
  • Be cautious as snakes have been displaced by the flooding and are seeking higher ground.

Service and facility impacts

Barwon Valley Activity Centre, Balyang Par 3 Golf Course and Queens Park Golf Course are expected to re-open tomorrow (Tuesday), while Lara Golf Course has re-opened. Barwon Valley Golf Course is expected to be closed for the rest of the week.

The following facilities remain closed:

South Barwon Cricket Club

Belmont Dog Park

Belmont Criterium Track

John Landy Athletics Track.

Traffic impacts

Several roads in the Greater Geelong region are closed as a result of flooding.

Please follow detour signs and avoid any non-essential travel.

Never drive, walk or ride through flood water. The water could be deeper than expected and the road surface may be damaged underneath.
