Only Liberals and Nationals will fix health crisis

In 2014, prior to his election, Daniel Andrews promised to end the ambulance crisis.

He has failed.

New data today shows that Ambulance Victoria response times are worse than eight years ago.

The data shows that fewer than 2 in 3 critical Code 1 call outs are being attended within the 15-minute target timeframe, compared with 73 per cent in December 2014.

Furthermore, response time targets being met are as low as 56 per cent in regional areas, as not a single local government area is meeting the Code 1 incident response time target.

Only the Liberals and Nationals will fix the health crisis.

By shelving Daniel Andrews’ $35 billion Cheltenham to Box Hill rail line and reprioritising every available cent into health, the Liberals and Nationals will fix the health crisis without new taxes and higher debt.

Our real solutions plan will build or upgrade 23 hospitals across Victoria, invest $125 million to get emergency calls to triple-zero answered on time, and upskill or recruit an additional 40,000 healthcare workers.

Shadow Minister for Ambulance Services, Georgie Crozier, said the fact that ambulance response times are worse now than eight years ago demonstrates Daniel Andrews’ mismanagement of our health system.

“The consequences of this are real and they are tragic. Too many Victorians are losing their lives waiting for help that takes too long to come,” Ms Crozier said.

“Daniel Andrews has run our health system as Premier or Minister for 12 of the past 16 years, yet things are only getting worse.”

“The only way to fix the health crisis is to vote for the Liberals and Nationals.”
