Shellharbour Council Calling for Community Award Nominations

Shellharbour City Council is encouraging the community to make a nomination for the 2023 Shellharbour Community Awards.

The annual awards recognise those who make a positive difference in the community.

Each year, Council acknowledges individuals, groups or local businesses who make valuable contributions through volunteering, acts of compassion, generosity or bravery.

This year Council has expanded the Community Awards to include recognition for those who have shown a high level of dedication and commitment to our sporting community during 2022.

Award categories include:

• Citizen of the Year

• Young Citizen of the Year (Under 25)

• Contribution to the Arts

• Environmental Warrior of the Year

• Young Environmental Warrior of the Year

• Sports Star of the Year

• Sports Team of the Year

• Young Sports Star of the Year

• Disability Athlete of the Year

• Master Sports Star of the Year

• Coach of the Year

• Support Superstar (Volunteer/Community)

Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer said the awards were a great way to recognise and honour those who contributed towards making Shellharbour City a great place to live.

“I am always proud to hear of all the wonderful stories, successes and contributions throughout Shellharbour. I encourage the community to recognise the efforts and talent of individuals and groups in our area and to nominate someone they know,” Mayor Homer said.

“The Community Awards are an excellent way to honour those who contribute, succeed and play a part in our community,” he said.
